It’s time for Snippet Sunday and the weather outside is bloody hot. Still. I’ve been hiding inside, watching Netflix and writing. I took a look at what needs to be finished and there are 8 stories that already have covers. I started working on those.
I have a new release (well, a new re-release as a stand-alone) and I’m showing it off. It’s a short, it’s a cute PNR mystery and it’s associated with my Callowwood Pack series.
In this snippet, Det. Rhiannon Mulvaney is talking with Aaron Wulf, who knows her partner Det. Cannon, and the aggrieved dog owner.

“Sandy is not a mutt. He’s a pure-bred Cocker Spaniel. A champion.” Mr. Beecher straightened his shoulders and raised his chin.
Wulf snorted. “He’s a pure-bred pain in the ass. And I want him out of my house.”
Rhiannon rubbed the spot between her eyebrows. “Mr. Beecher, please give us a call if you can remember anything else.”
The freckled man nodded and she allowed her gaze to swing over to Mr. Aaron Wulf. For some reason she wished she could give him her card. Maybe he’d call her just for kicks.
Oh my glory, what’s wrong with me? She never panted after men like a bitch in heat. Damn, I need to visit with my vibrator tonight. Hopefully her Mighty Mo’ would rid her of the pesky need to be ridden doggy style.
She turned away before she did something stupid like bridge the gap between them and ask him out. She was on the job, and she had to focus, but all she wanted to do was peel his clothes off and get down to some sexy business.
“Detective?”
The deep gravelly voice that had her thinking naughty thoughts made her turn. “Yes?”
“You didn’t give me your card in case I see something at a later date.” He tilted his head, his whiskey-golden eyes brimming with heat.
The word ‘date’ had her humming with arousal. Could he read minds? “Oh, right.” She fished out a card from her pocket and handed it to him. “Give me a call if you need—er, see anything. Any time.”
His face cracked into a glorious smile. “Yes, ma’am, Detective Mulvaney.”

Nice to know there are men out there who follow orders. 😉 There are several great authors on the Weekend Writer Warriors list, the Snippet Sunday Facebook group, and the Rainbow Snippets Facebook group. A few of my favorites are, P.T. Wyant, Karen Michelle Nutt, Veronica Scott, Karysa Faire, and Iris Blobel.
Here’s the blurb for THE CALLOWWOOD CANINE CAPER:
Aaron Wulf is a loner, an alpha werewolf. And he’s content with his life until his roommate brings a champion Cocker Spaniel into his home to protect it from dog-napping while its owner is out of town.
Detective Rhiannon Mulvaney has a real dog of a case. Someone’s dog-napping Kennel Club champs, and she’s determined to catch the culprits. But when she meets Aaron, the case gets much more interesting.
Maybe police work isn’t just for the dogs.
So much going on in the subtext of the scene, which I loved. Great snippet!
I think she’ll get her hot date!
