Snippet Sunday – Are You Moving?

It’s time for Snippet Sunday. It’s snowy and cold outside, so it’s a good time to snuggle up to a source of heat with a cuppa something good, and read.

So today I’m showcasing THE CONCRETE ANGEL, a cocky bikers holiday tale.

In this snippet, we’re in Rochelle’s POV (all in first person) and has just gotten a “Goddess Message”, a premonition that gives warnings.

~~~~~~
But I had the same feeling now that I’d felt at the Chuck E. Cheese’s, and the message was clear. I needed to move some of my things, precious and irreplaceable things, into my storage unit. A place I’d secured under a false name and ID due to another Goddess Message.
“Rochelle, are you okay?” Joslyn appeared in front of me, her face creased in concern.
I blinked. “Yeah, but we might have to put off the holiday promo drive a bit. I need to move a few things into my storage unit.”
She frowned. “Are you moving?”
I shook my head and shrugged. “I don’t think so, but my gut says I need to move some of my precious items out of here.”
I had insurance for both the shop downstairs and my residence, but insurance couldn’t bring back heirlooms or items of sentimental value.
“Let me get dressed for real while the coffee gets going and we’ll take a few things to storage.” I headed for the bedroom.
“You got a Goddess Message, didn’t you?”
“Yeah, but I don’t know when it’s going to happen. Could be later today, could be in two weeks.” I jerked off my sweatshirt and tank, and traded them for an underlayer and a sweater. “I’ll need to do a backup of my electronic records and leave a copy there since I can’t exactly store my computer.”
“Do you know what’s going to happen?” Her voice came from the kitchen.
“No.” I pulled my socks on and grabbed my shoes as I returned to the main room. “But it’s going to be destructive and if I want to save anything special, I need to move it today.”
“Okay. Show me where your boxes or totes are and we’ll get shit packed.” Joslyn rolled up her sleeves.
The hard part would be choosing what to keep and what I could lose.
It’s definitely hard to know the best choice. 😉 There are several great authors on the Weekend Writer Warriors list, the Snippet Sunday Facebook group, and the Rainbow Snippets Facebook group. A few of my favorites are, P.T. WyantKaren Michelle NuttVeronica ScottJessica Subject, Karysa Faire, and Iris Blobel.
Here’s the blurb for THE CONCRETE ANGEL:
Coming Soon!
The weather outside is frightful, and so are the goons trying to toss me off a snowy cliff…
Rochelle Stone, Earth Witch
Speaking out against a local bigwig who’s terrified of witches when you actually are a witch attracts trouble. Only the timely intervention of a big, hot biker dude saves me from a modern-day execution. He says he’s security for the Concrete Angels Motorcycle Club, but I know he’s more than that. I’ve always had an affinity for stones, and my affinity for Flint is through the roof. He’s hard as a rock and my hands tingle when I touch him. He doesn’t speak aloud, but his talented hands tell me plenty… Now if I can just get the jackass trying to kill me off my back, it’ll be a golden holiday for sure.
Humans. They’re either gloriously happy or dismally miserable.
Flint, Concrete Angels’ Security
With the holidays just around the corner, I’ve been looking for a quiet place to collect my thoughts. But that’s when Earl Creighton’s goons try to throw a woman off my local cliff. I normally don’t get involved with human troubles, but something about this woman captivates me beyond reason. We share a one-night stand and I know she’s meant to be mine. But Rochelle is no one’s property and she might not sign Loki’s contract. If she refuses, I’ll have to let her go and that will crack the foundation of my soul. No pressure, right?
Havoc, hexes, and holidays: It’s the most wonderful time of year…
  1. Cool concept, glad she’s paying attention but yeah, always so hard to prioritize. I keep a list for wildfires, of what to grab, prioritized by how much time we have to evacuate (if necessary)…great snippet!
