Snippet Sunday – Sunset Flight

It’s time for Snippet Sunday. It’s Mother’s Day weekend here in the US and I’m hoping I’ll get a day off to do what I want to do rather than chores. Here’s hoping. Today I’m showcasing COURTING THE DRAGON WIDOW. In snippet, we’re in Denarrion’s POV but Lissandra is the first to speak. They’re getting ready to go out. ~~~~~~ “Like I said. Enjoying the view.” Pride swelled in his chest, but he pretended take her compliment in stride. He reveled in her undivided attention. He’d never felt so virile, sexy, or handsome as he did with Lissandra’s gaze fixed upon him. Damn, the woman is like crack. “You’re quite handsome, you know that?” She followed him toward the front door. “So I’ve been told.” He offered her his best smile while pleasure flooded through his system. “Great, so I’m just one in a long line of admirers?” Her sarcasm hurt his pride a little and he held the door open to hide his expression. “I’ve been told it before, but it means a hell of a lot more coming from you.” “Oh yeah? Why?” “Because you’re a dragon.” She laughed. “I am definitely a dragon. Maybe after dinner we can go for a sunset flight. They’re pretty romantic.” Fear and panic shot through him, and his gut cramped. He grabbed his canvas bags and locked the door as he fought to keep his voice steady. I can’t reveal my true nature to humans. His father’s admonition had been drilled into him since he’d reached his first millennium. “Uh, yeah, probably not.” She raised her eyebrows. “Why not?” “Too many people. I don’t know what it’s like in Colorado, but around here, the humans would definitely notice dragon silhouettes in the sky.” That sounded plausible, right? She frowned. “Then how do you spend time in your natural form?” We don’t. Ever. “We have to drive out of town. It’s a trick, though. Lot of people live out here.” “Oh.” Her voice held reservation and disappointment, and his gut clenched again. Way to go, jackass. He wasn’t winning points with her. Scrambling to recover, he changed the subject. ~~~~~~~ He better think fast. 😉 There are several great authors on the Weekend Writer Warriors list, the Snippet Sunday Facebook group, and the Rainbow Snippets Facebook group. A few of my favorites are, P.T. Wyant, Karen Michelle Nutt, Veronica Scott, Jessica Subject, Kathy Griffith Karysa Faire, and Iris Blobel. Here’s the blurb for COURTING THE DRAGON WIDOW: Now available in Kindle Unlimited! Everyone has demons, but Lissandra’s date might have it worse than most… Lissandra Charforest is finally stepping back into the dating game after three decades of widowhood. Accepting a blind date, she travels to a small town in upstate New York to meet an eligible dragon bachelor. Too bad the guy seems determined to stand her up. Denarrion Goldencoat wouldn’t have agreed to a blind date with the Widow from Colorado if his father hadn’t insisted. Happy being the perennial bachelor, he has no desire to settle down on one woman, much less one with kids already. Until he falls into the reservoir with her. But everything’s not as it seems. Beneath the quaint façade of Redfield, darkness and decay lurks to ensnare the unwary. When Lissandra discovers she’s been lured to Redfield to kill a demon under the pretense of a courtship, she almost walks away. But the truth jeopardizes the life of her True Bonded mate, leaving her with one choice: Destroy the demon or die trying.

Snippet Sunday – Bad Boy of Redfield

It’s time for Snippet Sunday. It’s May the Fourth, Star Wars Day, and also Free Comic Book day. Did you get your free comic books? Today I’m showcasing COURTING THE DRAGON WIDOW and it’s now in Kindle Unlimited. You can borrow it as part of your subscription, but you can always buy it any time from Amazon. In snippet, we’re in Lissandra’s POV and she’s on the phone with Denarrion’s sister-in-law who’s made the decision they’re coming to dinner like it or not. Torri speaks first. ~~~~~~ “Fortunately, you beat us to the punch, but we’re still coming for dinner. Tell him to be ready.” Lissandra laughed. “Will do.” “Did you want us to bring your things with us?” “Yeah, that would be great.” “Very good. We’ll be there around six.” Torriandra’s voice softened. “Have a good time with him. He’s a good guy, no matter what you might see or hear.” “What will I see or hear, Torri?” “Nothing that can’t be fixed with a little communication. See you tonight.” Apprehension slid through Lissandra as the line went dead. She hung up the phone, puzzled over what sorts of things she’d see or hear about Denarrion. What hadn’t they all told her? “Everything okay?” “Yeah, I think so…” She replaced the handset and crossed her arms over her chest. “Something Torri said caught me off-guard.” “Oh yeah? What’d she say?” He rose from his seat and the wet t-shirt pulled against his chest, showing off hard sculpted muscles and a tiny ring through his left nipple. Who knew a nipple ring could be so sexy? “She said you’re a good guy, no matter what I might see or hear. What is she talking about?” Denarrion sighed and ran his hands over his face. “I suspect she means the shit my father says about me. He hasn’t been thrilled with me or my life since I moved away from him.” “So, he spreads rumors about you?” Denarrion shook his head. “Not rumors, exactly, just casual disdain. He’s a well-respected member of the community, so if he mentions I’m not what he’d like me to be, the listeners run that through their own filters, and voila! Bad boy of Redfield.” ~~~~~~~ It might be a cute title, but it also might have far-reaching consequences. 😉 There are several great authors on the Weekend Writer Warriors list, the Snippet Sunday Facebook group, and the Rainbow Snippets Facebook group. Snippet Sunday – Smooth Moves

It’s time for Snippet Sunday. This is a big weekend for the Muir household. Muirlette #1 has a big 8th Grade Prom and she’s getting all gussied up. I’m excited for her but still a little weirded out that she’s so grown up. Eep. Today I’m showcasing COURTING THE DRAGON WIDOW and now’s a good time to get this tale if you’re not an Amazon shopper. It will be in Kindle Unlimited next week so get your copy today if you prefer another format. In snippet, we’re in Lissandra’s POV and she’s visiting Denarrion’s house for the first time. They’re both wet from falling into the reservoir and she’s the first to speak. Mike is her dead husband. ~~~~~~ “Please tell me you like to cook.” “Yeah, it’s one of the things that relaxes me. Why?” He tilted his head. “Because a kitchen this magnificent shouldn’t be left sterile.” She ran her hands over the granite countertops. “It’s beautiful. I’m not a fan of cooking, but I could be coaxed to spend time here just because of how spectacular it is.”  “Oh yeah? I’ll remember that. What I like is no one complains if the recipes don’t come out exactly as I planned. Everything tastes good even if the presentation isn’t what I hoped.” Denarrion gave her his sexy grin again and she shivered with its impact. “I only like cooking if I can do it with someone else. When it becomes a chore, I run for the hills and depend on Gianni’s Pizza.” He smirked. “What did you do before Gianni’s?” “I had a husband.” She’d meant the response to be flippant, but thinking about Mike when she stood in another male’s home killed the humor. Denarrion’s expression closed down and she wished she’d kept her mouth shut. Nice going, idiot. Nothing like bringing up his dead competition. She grimaced. “Sorry. That sounded better in my head.” “No problem. I haven’t exactly been the smoothest today.” “Oh, come on. Pulling your blind date into the reservoir had to score high in originality points.” She winked, hoping to coax out his smile again. “I’m pretty sure no one else would think to do it.” He barked a laugh. “Yeah, that’s because it only works on special people. Not everyone can pull off those kind of suave moves.” She laughed, relieved. Maybe they could just ignore Mike from now on. She’d certainly try to keep him where he belonged, in the past. ~~~~~~~ Nice save. 😉 There are several great authors on the Weekend Writer Warriors list, the Snippet Sunday Facebook group, and the Rainbow Snippets Facebook group. Snippet Sunday – Meeting with Impact

It’s time for Snippet Sunday. It’s Easter weekend for those who celebrate and I have a new book out. COURTING THE DRAGON WIDOW is book 6 in the Cloudburst Colorado series and you can find it HERE. But today I’m showcasing an unedited F/F Fantasy Romance that will be included, eventually, in the Rifts Series. Indira is the head wranglers of the brightmares. The people in this world resemble the people from Avatar, though mine are more lavender and purple rather than blue. And they have five digits on their hands and feet. Diana is the new Keeper of the Key, the leader or Chief of their people. She’s also one of the Twelve Dancing Princesses from our mythology. We’re in Indira’s POV. ~~~~~~ Indira sighed and turned to make her way toward the Wranglers’ Den to gather her things when someone collided with her. She yelped and rolled, hitting the ground on her shoulder hard enough to dislocate the joint. “Oh my glory! I’m so sorry. Are you okay? Are you hurt? I’m really sorry.” The deep, sultry voice made Indy focus away from the pain screaming through her shoulder to look at the person who’d run into her. Sweet Goddess, it’s the new Keeper. Her mouth dried out faster than the Clouded Desert and excitement built in the pit of her stomach at her nearness. “Oh, glory, I didn’t realize how fast I was going. I’m a lot stronger here than where I’m from.” The Keeper scrambled to her knees and reached out for Indy. “Oh dear, you really are hurt, aren’t you? I’m very sorry.” Indy couldn’t find the words to say anything as the pain came rushing back. All she could manage was a deep groan. Say something. Anything. Apologize for being in her way. But the words didn’t come. Unfortunately, the tears did, flooding down her cheeks as the agony from her shoulder tore through her. “Oh no. Don’t cry. Glory, I really screwed up. Um.” The Keeper cast around for something, her expression folding into intense thought. “Here, let me see if I can help. Lean into me.” She sat back on the ground and spread her legs, beckoning to Indy. “Come on. Put your back against my chest and let me see if I can make it right.” “No, no…it’s all right…I’ll be fine.” The words came out in staccato bursts between the pulses of pain. “Horseshit. I bet you’re damn near nauseous from pain. Come on, don’t pussyfoot around. Let’s fix this.” ~~~~~~~ The Keeper’s not your average noble. Just a little hint of what all I’m thinking in terms of these people and the brightmares. Both of these images are used for inspiration only. Thanks for stopping by and happy reading!

Snippet Sunday – It’s a Gift

It’s time for Snippet Sunday. April is here and I can see the crocuses and tulips starting to show up. I love the spring flowers. Today I’m showcasing COURTING THE DRAGON WIDOW and it comes out on Tuesday, April 16th! It’s on preorder and you can grab our copy today. In snippet, we’re in Denarrion’s POV and he’s the first to speak. He’s on the phone with his brother who’s calling to tell him his blind date has arrived. Denarrion isn’t ready to face her yet and he’s giving excuses. ~~~~~~ “Really, thanks, but no. I gotta get these chairs out of here before the shop starts harassing me about ’em.” He sold furniture at a local shop in downtown Redfield, fetching good prices to keep him solvent. And out of my parents’ place. An exasperated sigh gusted into his ear from the other end of the phone. “Seriously? You’re gonna hand me that excuse? I’m pretty sure you’re just avoiding Ms. Charforest.” “Hey, we’re not scheduled to get together until tonight. It’s not my fault she got in early.” He paused as he narrowed his eyes. “Is she hot?” “You’re a real dick, you know that?” He could hear Charlorrion’s scowl. “It’s a wonder you’re still single.” “It’s a gift.” “Whatever, jackass. If you want to know what she looks like, you’ll have to come over to see her. Like tomorrow. If you say yes and are a no-show, Torri will string you up by your entrails.” Denarrion laughed. He could imagine Torriandra following through with her threat, despite her delicate looks. “Yeah, yeah, promises, promises. All right, I’ll be there tomorrow. I should have most of my work done.” “You better. Or I’m gonna introduce her to one of my firefighter buddies. You know Hollis Lupinsky. He’s a werewolf and loves playing with fire.” Despite his less than enthusiastic interest in the Widow from Colorado, Denarrion scowled. “Good luck with that. I hear she’s all about having more baby dragons. Can’t do that with a werewolf.” “How would you know what she wants? You haven’t even met her. You have no idea what her kinks or preferences are.” Charlorrion gave a theatrical sigh. “I guess you’ll just have to wait until tomorrow to find out. Have a good one.” “Charlie—” But the line had gone dead. ~~~~~~~ Guess he got what he asked for. 😉 There are several great authors on the Weekend Writer Warriors list, the Snippet Sunday Facebook group, and the Rainbow Snippets Facebook group. Snippet Sunday – Once You Get to Know Him

It’s time for Snippet Sunday. It’s the weekend and I’m still taking it slow because my grandmother AND my dog died in the last two weeks. I’m taking a break from my new series filled with snark, humor, and paranormal bikers, but you can stil find them in Kindle Unlimited HERE. Don’t forget, you can either buy books on Amazon as usual or you can “borrow” the books in Kindle Unlimited (which is an unlimited reading subscription for only ten dollars a month). But today I’m showcasing COURTING THE DRAGON WIDOW and it’s on pre-order now! In this snippet, Lissandra Charforest has come across the country to go on a blind date with an eligible dragon bachelor, Denarrion. She’s staying with Denarrion’s brother before she meets him. ~~~~~~ “Nice.” She nodded, but some of her misgivings returned. “Thanks again for the place to stay.” “You’re welcome. The bathroom is down the hall and there are towels and extra toiletries if you need them. Can I get you anything else? Tea? Coffee?” “No, thank you. That’s enough for now. I’m just going to get into bed and rest before, well, tomorrow.” She rubbed her arms to dispel the feeling that she’d missed something important. “Don’t worry. Everything will be fine. And I think you’ll really like Denarrion.” Charlorrion hesitated like he wanted to say more. “I hope so. I mean, this seemed like a good idea a month ago, when I finally felt ready to face the world again.” She shrugged. “I wanted to see if I could find someone to love again.” She shot a look around the unfamiliar room. “But now I’m having a few second thoughts. Think I’m crazy?” He tilted his head. “Perhaps, but that doesn’t mean taking this chance isn’t a good idea. Sometimes making a simple change in your routine helps everyone heal from losses.” She couldn’t help but feel like he meant something other than her widow status. “I can see that. I loved my husband and for a while, I couldn’t imagine loving anyone else. But ultimately, I don’t want to be alone and I want my children to have a father-figure in their lives.” He nodded. “Give Denarrion a chance and see how it goes. He’s a good guy once you get to know him.” Once I get to know him? Why wouldn’t I like him first off? She didn’t voice the questions as she nodded. “One day at a time, right? As if I could choose to skip days.” She snorted. “Thanks again for the room. I’m going to call home and get some rest. See you all in the morning.” Charlorrion nodded with a smile. “Good night, Lissandra.” “Night.” ~~~~~~~ Sounds like there might be something they haven’t told her about her date. 😉 There are several great authors on the Weekend Writer Warriors list, the Snippet Sunday Facebook group, and the Rainbow Snippets Facebook group. Snippet Sunday – Story of my Life

It’s time for Snippet Sunday. It’s the weekend and I’m taking it slow because more personal stuff. But I have a whole new series of books filled with snark, humor, and paranormal bikers, and the second one is now available while the first one is available in Kindle Unlimited. Don’t forget, you can either buy books on Amazon as usual or you can “borrow” the books in Kindle Unlimited (which is an unlimited reading subscription for ten dollars a month). Check it out MY FOREVER COCKY BIKER ENCOUNTER HERE and DUDE WITH A COOL CAR HERE. In this snippet, we’re in Cooper’s POV (all in first person) and he’s trying to figure out a way to tell her he’s not actually stalking her. Karma speaks first. ~~~~~~ “Why do you want to talk?” All the usual suave responses disappeared out of my thoughts before I could access them and I sat there scrambling for something to say. Because you’re beautiful and hearing your voice turns me on. Because I can’t get enough of being near you. Because I’m desperate for company and you’re the first person who’s noticed me. Oh yeah. All those things didn’t sound stalkerish at all. I damn near choked on my sarcasm. No matter which way I looked at it, following her to get her name was creepy as hell and now I had no idea how to salvage the situation. Way to go, DeVille. I honestly didn’t know why I’d needed to follow her. It didn’t make sense. Yes, talking to a member of the Concrete Angels would help my case against Backlog, but that hadn’t been why I’d followed the goddess on a motorcycle. I’d simply needed to know more about her and to be close to her. And that was just fuckin’ weird. “You know what? You’re right. This was a stupid idea.” I nodded, self-recrimination and frustration zipping through me. “I’m gonna go. This has bad karma written all over it. Story of my life.” I lurched off Rosé and dug my keys out of my front pocket, but her voice stopped me. “What did you say?” “I said it’s the story of my life.” “No.” She shook her head as I paused in the front of Rosé’s hood. “Before that.” “What, about karma?” She nodded. “Do you believe in karma?” “Hell yeah, I believe in karma. What goes around comes around, which is why I’m gonna head on outta here and leave you alone. I’m sorry I scared you.” ~~~~~~~ And that might be his saving grace. Like infiltrating the Concrete Angels Motorcycle Club and meeting Karma, the gorgeous Enforcer of the MC. Being handcuffed to her bed is a dream, but that’s the problem with undercover work. Everything I’m doing here is only half true. The Concrete Angels—and Karma—are connected to Backlog, a shadow organization infiltrating law enforcement. The Fed undercover here before me was Backlog’s bitch, and now he’s dead. I have to determine which side of this fight the Concrete Angels are on… before Karma comes to bite me in ways I won’t enjoy. Karma, Concrete Angels’ Enforcer You bet your ass, I’m that karma, the one people pray never catches up to them. But my own karma has found me, seeing as the hunky P.I. who drove into the MC compound with his cool car is my Goddess-chosen true mate. But as my luck—and the Goddess’ sense of humor—would have it, Cooper’s an undercover US Marshal trying to ferret out our connection to a group called Backlog. Would’ve been nice to know before I took him to bed and discovered he’s the best damn submissive this Madam could want, because I don’t deal well with liars. And no one’s happy when Karma’s pissed. But Backlog has Cooper in its sights, and to survive… my mate might just have to die.

Snippet Sunday – I Never Got Your Name

It’s time for Snippet Sunday. It’s the weekend and I’m taking it slow because personal stuff. But today I’m showcasing DUDE WITH A COOL CAR and it’s out! In this snippet, we’re in Cooper’s POV (all in first person) and he’s just chased after the woman he met at the gas pumps when she fled. Weird thing is he somehow knew how to find her, and it’s weirding him out, too. ~~~~~~ “Hi.” “What the fuck are you doing here?” Not the best start, but better than icy silence. “I followed you.” “No shit, Sherlock. Why the hell did you do that?” I spread my hands and shrugged. “I never got your name.” She raised an eyebrow. “You followed me into Bumfuck Nowhere Colorado to get my name after meeting me for all of two minutes? That’s creepy.” I wanted to argue that it wasn’t creepy, but it did seem like I’d stalked her. The very thought made my stomach cramp and bile work its way up my throat. I couldn’t help but be drawn to her and ever since I’d taken her hand, I had this buzzing in my head attracting me to her like a compass needle. I ran my hand over the back of my neck. “Yeah, I can see your point. But what’s weird is I knew where you were going. Ever since we shook hands, I’ve had this feeling where I can kinda sense you no matter where you are. Well maybe not specifically where you are, but a general direction. Does that make sense?” She groaned and dropped her head back, closing her eyes. “You unbelievable bitch!” She opened her eyes and pointed at the clouds in the sky. “You know I don’t have time for this, right? He can’t be my mate!” I blinked. Mate? I knew humans were considered mammals, but not that we took mates. Unless she meant in terms of sex and reproduction, which I’d be happy to provide. At least the sex part. “Uh, what?” “I fucking don’t have time for this. Do you hear me?” A rumble of distant thunder flowed across the mountains around us from the building storm clouds and she scowled deeper. “It’s not funny.” ~~~~~~~ She’s talking to someone beyond his reckoning. 😉 There are several great authors on the Weekend Writer Warriors list, the Snippet Sunday Facebook group, and the Rainbow Snippets Facebook group.
