Woohoo! Wrote THE END on THE SAMHAIN SOLDIER!!

I’ve been writing every day, making sure I get my 1K/day goals, and part of that was finishing a Super Sekrit Project out in November (and on pre-order in July). But part was also finishing a story that has been in the works since 2014. It’s called THE SAMHAIN SOLDIER and it’s Phinnius Winterbourne’s story – he’s the younger brother of Darius Winterbourne from THE BELTANE WITCH.  https://siobhanmuir.com/the-samhain-soldier/ You can actually read the first 2K words of THE SAMHAIN SOLDIER in the Spank or Treat Anthology 2014, entitled UNDER HER SPELL. I didn’t expect it to take this long to finish, but you’ll be happy to hear it comes out in October 2022. I’ll put it up for pre-order in August. https://siobhanmuir.com/sot-2014/ Happy Reading!

Snippet Sunday – I’m Happier Here

It’s time for Snippet Sunday and I’m ready for the spring warmth. The warmer weather is playing coy in Wyoming and I haven’t packed away my winter clothes yet. Darnit. Because it’s the month of Beltane, I thought I’d showcase CLOUDBURST COFFEE & SPA, the companion tale to THE BELTANE WITCH. Both occur around May Day and there’s a sequel to them coming in October this year, THE SAMHAIN SOLDIER (cover reveal soon). In this snippet, we’re in Moira Callahan’s POV and she’s just helped Aiden get his truck out of the mud. ~~~~~~ He laughed. “That must be it. See you around five.” She patted his door and headed for her own Jeep as he backed down the snowy dirt road. Friends are good. Less heartache, less attachment, and she could learn about him as the man he was now, not what she thought she remembered. It’s been a long time and we’ve both changed. Moira climbed through the wire of the fence and unlocked her Jeep. She didn’t know what had kept Aiden from meeting people’s eyes, but she’d recognized his defense mechanism. She’d had to shut down her own abilities when in the bigger cities, drowning them out with alcohol first, then too much food, and eventually hard-core sex. She didn’t go for pain, but she liked bondage and the power exchange of BDSM. Yeah, until my Dom got off on spanking me so hard it left bruises and he couldn’t hear the safeword. It was her hard-limit and she’d broken up with Lenny Corsica the next day. Black panic rose in her chest at the thought of him. She clamped her hands to the steering wheel and shut her eyes in an effort to hold it off. He has no power over me. He has no power over me. The mantra helped push back the dark hole ready to suck her down into the depths of despair. Lenny had scoffed at her reasons for walking away and told her she’d be back in a few days when she needed her fix. Moira swallowed against angry tears. He’d almost been right. But she’d gotten her shit together, quit her job, and moved back to the quiet mountain atmosphere of Cloudburst. Yeah, ran home to mama, so to speak. She took deep breaths, calming her racing heart and the swelling shame. “I’m happier here. Stronger. Safer.” ~~~~~~~ And she should be, even with Aiden around. 😉 There are several great authors on the Weekend Writer Warriors list, the Snippet Sunday Facebook group, and the Rainbow Snippets Facebook group. A few of my favorites are, P.T. Wyant, Karen Michelle Nutt, Veronica Scott, Jessica Subject, Kathy Griffith Karysa Faire, and Iris Blobel. Here’s the blurb for CLOUDBURST COFFEE & SPA: Available Wide Moira Callahan knows a thing or two about fresh starts. Second chances are a different story… As an empath synced into the energies of spaces around her, Moira always understood what people needed, and tried to provide. But after escaping an abusive D/s relationship, she’s ready to make her own rules as the owner of the Cloudburst Coffee & Spa. Life is good. Until her first love shows up in town seeking his second chance. Aiden Westmorland escaped Cloudburst to learn to control his sexual needs, but he left behind the one woman who calmed his statistical empathic abilities. Now he has a chance to rekindle the fire they’d shared as teenagers, with the flavor of BDSM. But earning the trust of an emotionally scarred woman after his long radio silence is easier said than done. When Moira’s past comes to Cloudburst, threatening the life she’s fought to rebuild, Aiden insists she go to the police. But her former Dom has a past of his own, and he isn’t willing to let go so easily this time….

Snippet Sunday – It Was Self-Defense

It’s time for Snippet Sunday and I’m ready for the spring warmth to come back. We dropped back into the 40s F and I’m not thrilled. But it’s my brother’s birthday today, so I have something to celebrate. In this snippet, we’re in Moira Callahan’s POV and she’s just encountered Aiden, her long lost love. It’s a little longer than usual to get the full impact of her frustration. ~~~~~~ He met her eyes boldly, shocking her again. “Hello, Moira.” “Aren’t you cold?” Not her brightest comeback, but his reappearance, naked, combined with his confidence threw her off balance. “It definitely gives a whole new meaning to chilling out.” He chuckled. “What brings you out here to the old Durango Mine?” “I found your truck.” Moira waved back the way she’d come. “Are you okay?” “I’m fine. Are you? You seem a little flustered.” Understatement of the year. “Uh, yeah, okay. Right. Okay.” He laughed, a sound remarkably lighthearted and rich, and excited joy filled her chest. She had the unreasoning need to hear that sound more often. “Are you sure? You sound undecided.” Moira shook her head. “What are you doing here?” He raised his eyebrows as he sat to tie his boots. “Taking a bath. It’s been a long road to get here.” Heat suffused her cheeks and she shrugged. “Sorry. That came out wrong. I’m just really surprised to see you. It’s been a while and I haven’t heard from you, and now you’re here.” She frowned. “Why is that?” “That I’m here?” “That I haven’t heard from you in all this time.” He dropped his gaze to his laces. “I went to college.” Moira snorted. “Where? In a remote village in the Amazon where they don’t have computers, cell phones, or telegraph machines?” He huffed a laugh, but his shoulders tightened and he didn’t look up. “I’d forgotten your sarcasm. You’ve gotten better at it.” “I have five brothers. It was self-defense.” But hurt and anger roiled in her gut. “Seriously, Aiden. Why didn’t you write or call or hell, even find me on some social media sites? It’s not like I got married and my name changed.” She wanted a good explanation. He’d been Shanghaied to serve in a foreign military unit or joined a biker gang. Maybe he’d fallen into a religious cult or drafted into a secret assassin organization that didn’t allow for outside contact. Anything but he just didn’t think her worth the effort to connect. ~~~~~~~ I’d totally have the same questions. 😉 There are several great authors on the Weekend Writer Warriors list, the Snippet Sunday Facebook group, and the Rainbow Snippets Facebook group. Snippet Sunday – I Want One

It’s time for Snippet Sunday and I’m ready for the spring warmth. It snowed at the beginning of the week and yeah, I’m kinda done with that. Let’s see if Nature listens to me. In this snippet, we’re in Moira Callahan’s POV and she’s just discovered who’s the owner of the abandoned truck. ~~~~~~ Beneath icy cascade of water stood a man, naked, scrubbing his body under the spray. A huge elaborate tattoo covered his back from the shoulders to waist, and a matching sleeve coated his right arm. Dark hair, nearly black in the wet morning light, slicked down to his muscular shoulders and more of the robust muscles framed his lithe body. Holy Goddess of the Valley. Moira damn near swallowed her tongue. I want one. The sentiment surprised her. She hadn’t wanted a man in a couple years, not like this visceral reaction. The man in the water turned and showed her his chest. Ridged muscles marched all the way down his torso, following a line of dark hair from his belly button into the water. Sweet Goddess, he has a happy trail. He wiped the water from his face and opened his eyes, his brilliant blue gaze locking on her. Aiden. Shock radiated straight through Moira and she swore her jaw hit the snowy ground. The gangly uncomfortable teenager had been replaced by an athletic man with strength and confidence in all of his moves. A half-smile curled his lips as he strode from the water, his nipples standing taut on his chest. Moira could no more stop her gaze from dropping to his groin than she could stop the water in the falls. Dark hair led from his belly straight to his balls and despite the cold, she appreciated the size of his package. Hell, if that’s him cold… Aiden sauntered to his clothes left on a boulder beside the creek and scrubbed his body down with a towel, giving her a lovely view of his taut ass and back. Moira swallowed hard as she took in the intricate back panel tattoo of a Celtic knotted raven. ~~~~~~~ Welp, she’s definitely getting the full view. 😉 There are several great authors on the Weekend Writer Warriors list, the Snippet Sunday Facebook group, and the Rainbow Snippets Facebook group. Snippet Sunday – Just Forget About This

It’s time for Snippet Sunday and this weekend is Beltane. Are you ready for it? Have you set up your altars and May poles? The weather is going to be beautiful in Cheyenne and we’ll be outside for sure. Because Beltane is this weekend, I thought I’d showcase CLOUDBURST COFFEE & SPA, the companion tale to THE BELTANE WITCH. Both occur around May Day, and both are currently on sale at Edenbooks.org this weekend. There’s a sequel to them coming in October this year, THE SAMHAIN SOLDIER (cover reveal soon). In this snippet, we’re in Moira Callahan’s and she’s been trying to convince herself that her life is perfect as is. ~~~~~~ Moira took a deep breath and resettled her shoulders. She was fine. She was safe, had her business, her over-protective family, and her best friend. Life was good. She didn’t need anything else. Leave the heavy-duty romance to the likes of Sabrina Foxglove and Darius Winterbourne. I’m good the way I am. Rounding a corner, her heart jumped into her throat when she caught sight of an old, rusted Chevy pickup, nosing the barbed wire fence like a curious puppy. Moira skidded to a stop and gaped, her mind skipping like a broken record. Oh my glory, oh my glory, oh my glory… Aiden’s pickup. No, no, it can’t be his. Easing her 4×4 Jeep to the side of the road, Moira squinted to see through the glass of the pickup’s windshield reflecting sky. She turned off the engine and listened. Silence greeted her as her windows fogged up with her warm exhalations. She debated getting out, arguing she shouldn’t even be curious, but helpless to the lure of the old truck. It just looks like his old truck. She pushed her door open and got out. Right down to the rusted heart we carved in the front fender. Shit. Moira scanned the quiet road and the trees barely starting to bud as spring tried to show its face. The snow had stopped and a thin layer of white blanketed the roof and bed of the truck. But the hood remained bare. The truck’s still warm. Where’s the driver? She let her senses drift, searching the energies for a human occupant, but only forest calm came back to her. I should really get back to the shop and just forget about this. It’s not Aiden. But curiosity gripped her body and she took the time to look for footprints in the newly-fallen snow. ~~~~~~~ Apparently, she’s going to think about Aiden a lot. 😉 There are several great authors on the Weekend Writer Warriors list, the Snippet Sunday Facebook group, and the Rainbow Snippets Facebook group. Snippet Sunday – Take a Deep Breath

It’s time for Snippet Sunday and I’m so ready for the warm spring temps to come back. We had snow for the last two days and I don’t want it, lol. Beltane is right around the corner, and I thought I’d showcase CLOUDBURST COFFEE & SPA, the companion tale to THE BELTANE WITCH. Both occur around May Day, which is coming up, and there’s a sequel to them coming in October this year. In this snippet, we’re in Moira Callahan’s POV. She owns the Cloudburst Coffee & Spa and she’s just had an accident out on her floor. (BTW, this scene is also in THE BELTANE WITCH) ~~~~~~ Moira jerked in her chair as her waitress Tess came screaming into her office. “Ohmygod ohmygod ohmygod.” “Calm down, Tess. What’s going on?” “I just accidentally dumped some coffee on someone and she fell and hit her head and now she’s not breathing, and—” “Whoa, whoa, whoa. What happened?” Moira rose and followed the agitated woman out the door into the Cloudburst Coffee & Spa, her pride and joy. “It was an accident. She got up and turned right into me, and the coffee spilled.” Tess’s expression filled with tears. “It burned her, I think, and she tripped over her chair and hit her head on the table…Oh my God, I’m sorry, Moira.” “Take a deep breath, Tess. We’ll figure it out.” Moira grabbed the cordless phone on the way into the main floor of her coffee shop and headed for the small knot of people standing around a handsome man kneeling over someone on the floor. “Oh no.” Tess twisted her hands in her apron and bit her lip. Moira felt the breath leave her body as she recognized Sabrina Foxglove out cold, blood staining the floor. “Holy Goddess!” “I know. It was an accident, I swear.” Tears slid down Tess’s cheeks. Before Moira could say anything, Sabrina gasped and opened her eyes. She scanned the crowd around her in startled recognition and some of Moira’s tension eased. The man hunched over Sabrina spoke with her a few moments, reassuring her, and Moira wondered who he was. She wanted to ask, but Sabrina’s recovery meant more at the moment. “Is she going to be okay?” “I think she will be fine, but she needs to go home and rest.” The man nodded. “I have to get to work…” Sabrina struggled to get up, but the handsome stranger gently pressed her down. ~~~~~~~ Well that’s a little excitement for the day. 😉 There are several great authors on the Weekend Writer Warriors list, the Snippet Sunday Facebook group, and the Rainbow Snippets Facebook group. Snippet Sunday – What Can I Get You?

It’s time for Snippet Sunday and it just happens to be Easter. A good time to sit back, eat some chocolate, and hunt for eggs. The witches in Cloudburst approve. Since it’s Easter and Beltane is right around the corner, I thought I’d showcase CLOUDBURST COFFEE & SPA, the companion tale to THE BELTANE WITCH. Both occur around May Day, which is coming up, and there’s a sequel to them coming in October this year. In this snippet, we’re in  and he’s come back to Cloudburst to reconnect to the woman he left behind. He just has to find her first. ~~~~~~ Aiden zipped up his jacket as the cold Cloudburst wind stole all the heat from his body. Damn, he’d forgotten how bitter it could be in the mountains of Colorado. His strides lengthened and he found himself standing beneath the overhang of the Cliffhanger Bar. Don’t go inside. You’re asking for trouble. But he pushed the door open and sighed in relief as heat flooded over his chilled body. He shouldn’t be there, not with all the animosity he’d experienced with Moira’s family, but tonight he couldn’t stay away. He settled on a stool at the bar. “What can I get you?” Aiden glanced up to take in the bartender and recognition dawned as quickly as the man’s stats. Kieran Callahan, Moira’s younger brother. Blood type AB positive, BMI twenty-two point four, life expectancy ninety-one point six years, ninety-four percent chance he will marry outside his profession. Aiden dragged his eyes away from Kieran and focused on the handwritten menu on the wall. “I’ll take a Powder Keg Stout.” “Comin’ up.” Kieran moved away and Aiden breathed a sigh of relief. He hadn’t been recognized yet, but he’d changed a great deal. Hopefully, it’d keep him safe. At least for tonight. Kieran set a glass and a chilled bottle on the bar in front of Aiden and gave him a neutral smile. Aiden didn’t meet his gaze, but focused on the beer. “How long you in town for, Westmorland?” Aw, hell, that didn’t take long. “Dunno. Just got back in tonight to visit with family.” Aiden took a swig from the bottle. “You got a problem, Callahan?” “That depends.” “On?” The younger man scanned the rest of the bar. When no one waved him down for anything, he turned his attention back to Aiden. “On whether or not you’re here to break my sister’s heart again.”  ~~~~~~~ Her brother’s not makin’ it easy for him. 😉 There are several great authors on the Weekend Writer Warriors list, the Snippet Sunday Facebook group, and the Rainbow Snippets Facebook group. Snippet Sunday – I’d Never Hurt You

It’s time for Snippet Sunday and today I’m showcasing an older book (came out in 2017) as I’m working on the sequel that should be out in June. It’s part of an unusual anthology that I can’t spill on just yet, but my tale will be a sequel to WILDFIRE’S HEART, Book 1 in the Elemental Hearts series. We’re in Raihana’s POV and she’s just learning which kind of djinn he is. ~~~~~~ “That.” She pointed at the fire pit. “How did you do that? Magic?” He shook his head. “No. That was all talent. I’m an Ifrit, a fire elemental. I can ask it to perform as I wish. We are akin, fire and I.” Ifrit. “The fire djinn?” “Yes.” He gazed at her a few moments. “I’m sure your parents mentioned my people.” She nodded slowly. “Yes, they did.” The word echoed through her mind with a sense of unease. Her people had reviled the fire djinn, calling them evil demons sprung from an unholy connection between the Windborn and fire. Her whole village had taught the children to avoid and guard against Ifrits because they would lead the other Windborn to certain death. Her own father had once threatened a cousin who’d befriended an Ifrit on his travels, forbidding him from seeing his friend. “Not complimentary, I suspect?” Saif sat with a self-deprecating smile on his lips. Heat suffused her face. “No.” He nodded. “I figured. Most of the Windborn have labeled us demons because of our connection to fire, but in truth, we’re fire elementals rather than wind elementals. The only difference between your people and mine is the element we manipulate.” Raihana bit her lip, thinking about his words. While her father spent hours railing against her cousin and his association with an Ifrit, he’d never met her cousin’s friend though he’d tried to convince her father to do so. What would village say now that I’m fucking one? Her people would be livid, but Saif had done nothing to harm her. Instead, she felt like she’d come home each time they’d made love. “I’d never hurt you, Raihana.” Saif’s expression had turned serious and he held something hidden in his hands on his lap. “I know that.” ~~~~~~~ Oh my, even among the djinn there are rifts. Here’s the blurb for WILDFIRE’S HEART: Available everywhere now! When you wish upon a wildfire… Hot Shot Saif al Nar is a natural when it comes to fighting fires. As an Ifrit—a fire djinn—there’s no one better. But he doesn’t anticipate the local residents being suspicious and afraid of his ethnicity when his crew comes into town from the fire line for some R&R. Add some unexpected backup in the form of a lovely djinn and Saif is ready to set the town on fire. A djinn might get burned… Raihana Nejem retired from being a genie in a lamp centuries ago and now works for the U.S. Forest Service. Fires are devastating her field area, but the sexy firefighter djinn might just be more dangerous. Her people believe Ifrits to be evil demons and Raihana can’t be sure Saif isn’t responsible for the arson fires cropping up in town. Or they could set the night on fire… Is Saif behind the arson or is something darker and more dangerous going on? With hearts and lives on the line, Raihana must decide if she can stand the heat that comes with loving a man like Saif.

Snippet Sunday – He’s a Djinn

It’s time for Snippet Sunday. And it’s Valentine’s Day. Sending love and blessings to all y’all out there. Celebrate the love you have for friends, family, and lovers. Did you get any cards this year? Today I’m showcasing an older book (came out in 2017) as I’m working on the sequel that should be out in June. It’s part of an unusual anthology that I can’t spill on just yet, but my tale will be a sequel to WILDFIRE’S HEART, Book 1 in the Elemental Hearts series. We’re in Raihana’s POV  and she’s a Djinn, more commonly called genies, as well as a wildlife biologist doing fieldwork in the Colorado Rockies. She met and invited Saif al Nar to dinner that night and she’s nervous. ~~~~~~ Raihana brushed out her hair and braided it as the scallops and crab cooked in the cream sauce. Excitement bubbled just under her skin, but she took deep, regulated breaths and forced her hands to move with steadiness. He’s a djinn, I know it. She’d felt it deep inside the moment they touched hands, and it called to her own djinn hiding beneath her innocuous human exterior. But Saif was different. She didn’t know if it was because she’d been away from her people for millennia or because he was special in some other way. She hoped it wasn’t because he remained shackled to a lantern, under a geas to grant wishes for all eternity, like her own people. He doesn’t wear the arm cuffs. She shot a look out the windows of her cabin toward the road, but no headlights broke the darkness of the summer evening. An hour hadn’t quite passed since he bid her farewell in the grocery store parking lot, but she still worried he wouldn’t come. She couldn’t grant her own wishes as her magic didn’t work that way, but she’d spent many decades yearning for someone to connect with. It had been so long since she met one of her own people, and she’d been restless, never able to find a place where she truly fit in. She’d been looking for someone, a man preferably, who would have her back, and know her for who she truly was. Djinn weren’t common in this part of the world, and freed djinn like her, even less so. But she recognized his energy the moment she touched him, which explained why she got defensive about the way the locals treated him. ~~~~~~~ There’s still magic in the world, and even Ifrit’s can be surprised. 😉 There are several great authors on the Weekend Writer Warriors list, the Snippet Sunday Facebook group, and the Rainbow Snippets Facebook group.
