Snippet Sunday – Broad Shoulders and Abs of Stone

It’s time for Snippet Sunday. And it seems like forever since I had a book threatening to come out. But I do! I finally have another book coming out. Woohoo!! Can you tell I’m excited?

So today I’m showcasing THE CONCRETE ANGEL, a cocky bikers holiday tale. This was supposed to be a short holiday novella, but as with most things in the MC, it gets complex fast. So you get a full novel for this holiday season. THE CONCRETE ANGEL comes out November 9 2020!

In this snippet, we’re in Rochelle’s POV (all in first person) and she has realized just how much damage this guy could do. Her big question is: what now?

~~~~~~
Bodies littered the ground near the SUV, but I couldn’t tell if they were only unconscious, or dead. And one man stood in the beams of the headlights.
Broad shoulders, bald head, and exposed abs of solid stone.
Sweet glory.
Despite the snow swirling around him, he wasn’t wearing a shirt. But he looked like a total badass. The leather cut, denim jeans, and biker boots helped, too. I waited for him to say something, but he just stared at me, a look both hot and feral. I shivered and hoped he wasn’t like the others.
I expected him to say, “Are you all right?” or the equivalent, but he simply stared and I had to clear my throat to find my voice.
“Thank you.”
He nodded and did this odd rearrangement of his lips as if his teeth didn’t quite fit behind them. Again, I expected words from him, but he didn’t speak at all as he turned and started picking up bodies. Like they were nothing more than sacks of grain.
Holy shit. His strength made me realize I might be in real trouble. If you’re gonna go, Rochelle, now is the time. But the snowstorm had picked up. I could easily get lost in the Rocky Mountains and die of exposure without the SUV. What the hell was I going to do?
So I stood there in the snow and watched the badass biker dude collect the bodies and shove them in the SUV without a word. I felt kinda stupid, like a dumb damsel in distress who couldn’t save herself, but I didn’t know what to do. Maybe I should start walking down the road and hope for the best. Yeah, that was a good way to get lost or dead or both.
It’s definitely hard to know the best choice. 😉 There are several great authors on the Weekend Writer Warriors list, the Snippet Sunday Facebook group, and the Rainbow Snippets Facebook group. A few of my favorites are, P.T. WyantKaren Michelle NuttVeronica ScottJessica Subject, Karysa Faire, and Iris Blobel.
Here’s the blurb for THE CONCRETE ANGEL:
Coming Soon!
The weather outside is frightful, and so are the goons trying to toss me off a snowy cliff…
Rochelle Stone, Earth Witch
Speaking out against a local bigwig who’s terrified of witches when you actually are a witch attracts trouble. Only the timely intervention of a big, hot biker dude saves me from a modern-day execution. He says he’s security for the Concrete Angels Motorcycle Club, but I know he’s more than that. I’ve always had an affinity for stones, and my affinity for Flint is through the roof. He’s hard as a rock and my hands tingle when I touch him. He doesn’t speak aloud, but his talented hands tell me plenty… Now if I can just get the jackass trying to kill me off my back, it’ll be a golden holiday for sure.
Humans. They’re either gloriously happy or dismally miserable.
Flint, Concrete Angels’ Security
With the holidays just around the corner, I’ve been looking for a quiet place to collect my thoughts. But that’s when Earl Creighton’s goons try to throw a woman off my local cliff. I normally don’t get involved with human troubles, but something about this woman captivates me beyond reason. We share a one-night stand and I know she’s meant to be mine. But Rochelle is no one’s property and she might not sign Loki’s contract. If she refuses, I’ll have to let her go and that will crack the foundation of my soul. No pressure, right?
Havoc, hexes, and holidays: It’s the most wonderful time of year…
    1. Yay, I hope you enjoy Flint and Rochelle’s tale, Veronica. It went on longer than I’d expected, but there was a lot to address, lol.
