Promptly Penned – Supernatural Hitman

We’re back with the Promptly Penned flash fiction for May and the prompt is a good one.

The prompt line is:
“He is a hitman for the supernatural, because sometimes, ghosts need revenge so they can rest in peace.”

It’ll be bold in the narrative, and again this is from an upcoming tale in the Concrete Angels MC series, a paranormal biker romance with humor. The speaker is named Pandora. 😉 Happy reading!

I sat on a lawn chair beside the pool, trying to relax. It was hard with so many people around me. I avoided crowds when I could given my experience with them turning on me. It was hard to be comfortable when everyone blamed me for the troubles of the world.

Yeah, even if it wasn’t me who opened the Jar of Prolific Troubles.

No, that was the asshole sitting one chair over, looking at me like he didn’t quite know what to do with me. That’s okay. I didn’t quite know what I was going to do to him. I’d either kill him slowly and make him suffer like I had, or I’d tie him down to the bed and make love to him.

Damn, I’m messed up.

I turned my attention to the other people around us in an attempt to dissolve the thoughts from my head. A big, brawny, bald guy stood a few feet from us, his arms crossed over his chest and his expression focused. On me. And he wasn’t smiling.

“What’s up with the brawny badass over there? He some sort of lawn decoration or what?”

Loki rolled his gaze from my face to the dude behind me and smirked. “That’s Flint. He’s one of the security guards. You didn’t notice him hanging on you when you barged in here?”

I snorted. “I was focused.”

“I can see that.”

“So what’s his story?”

Loki raised an eyebrow. “Why do you want to know?”

I rolled my eyes. “Because it’s better than just sitting here while everyone stares at me and says nothing.”

He grunted with what sounded like amusement and nodded. “He was a hitman for the supernatural.

I blinked. “What? Why?”

Loki shrugged. “Because sometimes, ghosts need revenge so they can rest in peace. Otherwise they wreak havoc on the living, ja?”

I frowned. “That doesn’t make any sense. Why would ghosts what their tormentors to die? Wouldn’t that just make more ghosts?”

Loki shrugged again. “Apparently it was a good racket. He lived very well off it for a while, but found life with ghosts to be bothersome. So he became my security guard. He says it’s peaceful.”

I shot a look around at the bikers in various states of inebriation and undress and shook my head. “Right, peaceful.”

That’s it for me this month. Check out the other author’s use of the prompts.

    1. There will be more. It’s slower coming than some of the other tales, but this is Pandora and Loki’s story. He has a lot to make up for. 😉 Thanks for commenting, Gwen.

  1. Concrete Angels! Loving this series. Can’t wait for more. Is this a peak into Loki’s story? Liking it anyway.

    1. Yes, this is Loki’s tale. But the prompt worked so well with it that I couldn’t help but write it. 🙂 Thanks for commenting, Pansy.
