It’s Snippet Sunday and we’re all stuck at home, lol. But that means there’s more time to read and I actually do have a new book coming in the Concrete Angels MC series. Soon, I promise.
I’m showcasing ANGEL INK and it’s coming soon! In this snippet, we’re in Michael’s POV (all in first person) and he rescued Haley and brought her to a coffee shop to warm up. He’s drinking Earl Grey tea while she drinks coffee. This is unedited at the moment so forgive typos if you find them.

“Care to tell me why you were out, alone in the snow, on Valentine’s Day with a dead phone?”
She blinked and sipped her coffee. “Damn, when you put it like that, it really does sound like I needed to be rescued.”
I shrugged but my curiosity boiled over to find out what my brother Luke had engineered to get us together. And on Valentine’s Day no less. Though I’d met St. Valentine and love had been the last thing on his mind when he became a saint.
She sighed and shook her head. “It’s a story, but not a very good one. Just one stupid decision after another. You know the drill.”
I shrugged. “Enlighten me. You can give me just the facts. Think of it like you’re writing a news story.”
Haley narrowed her eyes. “Why would you say that?”
I curled my lips into my best half-smile. “After I saw you at the museum, I did a little digging. I figured you were there with the press and found out you worked for the Fort Collins Bugle.”
“Do you always research the women you give fly-by kisses?”
I grinned. “Always. But I don’t give many women fly-by kisses so you’re a special case.” I dimmed my grin and tilted my head. “And I wanted to know you a little bit better.”
She regarded me with serious eyes for a few moments. “Why?”
What could I tell her? That I’d been hooked on her appearance and scent from the moment I saw her? That the Goddess had chosen her to be my One-and-Only? That I was the Archangel Michael and I’d been looking for her for millennia? That I’d never felt the driving need for connection like I did with her?
Yeah, probably not a good way to start things off.
I rolled my cup in my hands. “The museum wasn’t the first time I’d seen you.”

Better to hedge one’s bets. 😉 There are several great authors on the Weekend Writer Warriors list, the Snippet Sunday Facebook group, and the Rainbow Snippets Facebook group. A few of my favorites are, P.T. Wyant, Karen Michelle Nutt, Veronica Scott, Jessica Subject, Kathy Griffith Karysa Faire, and Iris Blobel.
Here’s the blurb for ANGEL INK:
Coming Soon
Angels, Art, and Avarice: The magic of an angel’s heart…is written on his skin.
Haley Michaels, Reporter
I was minding my own business, trying to escape a party, and walked straight into a murder. Which would’ve been the scoop of a lifetime if my phone hadn’t died. And the door hadn’t locked. Now I’m stuck in a cabin in the mountains with a hot guy who appeared on the street like my knight on shining motorcycle, and I should be more worried than attracted. I mean, he’s covered in tattoos and is VP from the notorious Concrete Angels MC, the same group I’m investigating. Because I know they’re involved with the deaths of a U.S. Marshal and two FBI agents. My love life luck sucks.
Michael, Concrete Angels’ VP
Love isn’t something that archangels ever expect to feel. At least not the all-consuming, no-holds-barred kind of love spoken about in films and songs. But that’s what I felt the moment I laid eyes on Haley. She doesn’t know I’m not human, or just how inhuman the rest of my MC is, but I can’t stay away from her if I tried. Now I have to protect her – not only from the men hunting her, but also from the truth. The question is: will she stay when she finds out what I really am? Because if she can’t be trusted with the truth, Loki will make sure she can’t pass on the information. Permanently.
I love their little banter and had a bit of a giggle of his many reasons why he wanted to meet her.
Haha, he makes a list of what not to say and pick something else that might not be better. I hope for him she isn’t one to yell “stalker”.
Definitely not the way to start off! Hope she’s doesn’t think he’s a stalker. Nicely written snippet, Siobhan!
Intriguing, especially the last part – Archangel Michael, and where did he see her before?
I like his choices for what to tell her, none of which she’s going to believe at this point of course. Great excerpt, sparkling 🙂
Love the banter and the inner banter with himself, too.
